Space Geodesy Laboratory (SGL), National Chiao Tung University, was established by Dr. Cheinway Hwang in 1999. The goal of SGL is to promote geodetic research in Taiwan and the world. Current research activities include satellite altimetry, satellite gravimetry, orbital science, airborne and shipborne gravimetry, GPS positioning for moving platforms, and surface deformations. SGL is also the group responsible for promoting applications of the absolute and superconducting gravimeter supported by the National Laboratory for Geodesy and Geodynamics (LOGG), Taiwan. LOGG owns two FG-5 absolute gravimeters, two superconducting gravimeters, two airborne gravimeters and other geodetic instruments. SGL encourages international collaborations to explore the data of SGL for advanced researches. Currently, SGL is responsible for the precise orbit determination of the COSMIC mission, and participates in several study groups and sub-commissions of the International Association of Geodesy.
